The Interactive Institute's Design Research Unit has been granted 2,7 MSEK for the project "Forms of Sustainability" which will start in the beginning of 2009 and go on for three years. The purpose of ´Forms of Sustainability´ is to deepen and extend theoretical and methodological aspects of critical and conceptual design by means of a inquiry into the concept of form in relation to sustainable design, and to present these findings as both written text and design objects. ´Forms of Sustainability´ draws on notions of critical design, conceptual design, and related approaches where design practice has been used not to solve practical problems but as a way of exposing and raising critical questions about design.

Project members are: Johan Redström (project leader), Sara Backlund, Ramia Mazé, Christina Zetterlund (Konstfack) and Cilla Robach (Nationalmuseum).
