Social Transformation within the Energy sector

6 February, 2018 - 15:54

During the entire last week, RISE Interactive in Umeå organized and participated in the Strategy for Change (S4C) event that is part of a European project that aims to improve social innovation. The program contained a mini-conference on social innovation and a hands-on workshop around Transformative Practices in the Energy Sector to explore societal challenges in the context of the energy field. Finally, towards the end of the week, a group of 40 international students developed ideas within social transformation and innovation into tangible and realistic concepts.

Strategy for Change
Strategy for Change is an EU project with the focus on Social Change. Through a range of successful events in Dublin (IE) Aveiro (PT), Eindhoven (NL) the project has supported students, NGO’s, entrepreneurs and industry with their social transformation challenges and established a network of partners from both academia and industry that set a base for future change through international collaboration. http://strategy4change.eu/

Umeå’s approach to Transformative Practices
At the start of 2018, RISE Interactive in Umeå organized the Strategy for Change event by kicking off with four keynotes about Transformative Practices, Energy and Social Innovation on a local, national and international scale. Followed up by a hands-on workshop that explored societal challenges in the context of the energy field driven by the methodologies and design perspective of RISE Interactive Umeå accompanied by an updated Transformative Practices Model designed to serve the more concrete, ‘everyday’ transformative processes. Among the participants were professionals (industry, public sector, and NGO’s active in the field of energy) as well as design researchers and students which constructively investigated questions, concerns, opportunities, and ideas, to explore the future of the energy sector. During the last 3 days of the event, 40 international students developed ideas within social transformation and innovation within the energy sector into tangible and realistic concepts that bring light to the future.

This workshop, has build upon the network that we started with a similar workshop in Eindhoven (NL) in October of 2017. For a video impression, click here.
