Participation in Beckman's Sustainable Design initiative

28 August, 2009 - 13:26

Beckman's College of Design launched it's 2009 school year with an intensive two-week focus on social and sustainable design - Hållbarhetsveckor. A series of lectures, seminars and workshops focus on socio-economic frameworks and design principles for sustainability, featuring international guests – from IDEO, Massive Change and Futurra – and national leaders in the field including the Stockholm Resiliance Center, the Tällberg Foundation, the Foundation for Design and Sustainable Enterprise, GreenIT and Albaeco. Joining the initiative from the Interactive Institute, Ramia Mazé from the Design Research Unit gave a two workshops focused on 'participatory methods' for the 2nd and 3rd year students in advertising, fashion and product design.

A question underpinning the initiative is asked by one of the organizers, Mathilda Tham (adjunct professor at Beckmans and research in sustainability at Goldsmiths, University of London): How can we design a more sustainable world?
