Interactive Institute presents collaboration with Smithsonian Institute

12 November, 2013 - 21:17

This week, Interactive Institute is presenting at the X 3D conference hosted by the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC. During the conference, world leading museum professionals, technology companies and researchers will get together to show and discuss how 3D technologies will transform the work of museums and research institutions worldwide.

Interactive Institute has been invited to present Inside Explorer at the Smithsonian X 3D tech gallery. Inside Explorer is an interactive visualization system that enables museums to publish objects scanned with reality capture technologies such as CT, laser scanners and photogrammetry. Inside Explorer is today used at museums and science centers world wide to visualize everything from mummies to Martian meteorites.

Exclusively for the conference Interactive Institute has joined forces with the 3D digitization team at Smithsonian to create a user experience based on Micro CT scans of natural history subjects from the collection. The visitors of the conference will be able to dissect and explore a Eulaema bee and rare orchids in 3D.

The X 3D conference will take place at Smithsonian Institute, November 11-12, for more information check out the conference website.
