Lars Erik Holmquist: Homepage
Hello!
I head the Interaction
Design and Innovation lab at SICS,
the Swedish
Institute of Computer Science, and I am a Professor in Media
Technology at Södertörn
University.
One of my main roles is also as a Research Leader at the Mobile
Life Center, a joint venture between Stockholm
University, SICS and other partners in Kista,
Sweden. I also teach at Keio Graduate Shool of
Media Design in Japan.
My research group is called the Future Applications
Lab and spans several institutions including SICS, Mobile Life, SU
and Södertörn. We
develop innovative technology that will make

- Mobile Life is
a Swedish center of excellence in the area of mobile services and
ubiquitous computing
- INGVAR is the Strategic Research Foundation's
individual grant for the advancement of young research leaders - I was
one of 18 to receive it, out of over 400 applicants from all fields of
science
- LIREC is a European project on long-term
interaction with robotic companions

- In 1998, I founded the
PLAY
research group at the Viktoria Institute (and later at the
Interactive Institute) and led it until
2001
- I was
general chair for
UbiComp 2002, the premier event in Ubiquitous Computing. With
almost 500 participants it was the biggest UbiComp conference thus far!
- I organized the first
and second
international workshop on Mobile Music Technology; I also organized a
panel on Ubiquitous Music at SIGGRAPH 2005
- I organized the international workshop Designing
Robot Applications for Everyday Use
- I was demonstrations
