Johan Redström has an educational background
in philosophy, cognitive science, and music. He did his PhD studies
in philosophy, and received a PhD in Informatics on interaction design
from Göteborg University, Sweden. He has worked as a researcher
at the Viktoria Institute, and then at the Interactive Institute, where
he is currently active as Research Director of Interactive Institute
DESIGN Göteborg. He has extensive experience in developing, conducting
and leading research projects involving multiple disciplines from both
academia and industry. He also has had a position as guest lecturer
at Chalmers Technical University where he developed, tutored and managed
a multidisciplinary Masters Program in Interaction Design. His main
research interests include design theory and philosophy, experimental
and critical design and the development of design methodology based
on combinations of user-centred and artistic approaches. Recent research
projects have been centred on computational technology as design material,
on the aesthetics of information technology, and on emerging applications
for IT and textiles in interaction and product design. In 2006, Johan
will be working as visiting associate professor at the Center for Design
Research
(Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, Copenhagen, Denmark).
