NODEM International

NODEM is a network and conference forum consisting of museum professionals and researchers from various disciplines in digital heritage. The aim of NODEM is to create arenas for exchanges of experiences, best practices, and research aspects on the use of new digital media in communicating with visitors and audiences, at museums, galleries, heritage attractions, natural and science discovery centers, etc.

NODEM connects professionals and researchers, e.g. exhibition designers, interactions designers, educators, engineers, artists or ICT developers from Universities and R & D institutes, museums, heritage sites, industry, galleries, science and discovery centers, cultural/natural heritage sites, and similar organizations that will benefit from participation and exchanges.

The focus of NODEM is on computer-human interface, interaction design, social design, museum studies, education and digital curating with digital and mixed media as well as low-tech and advanced technologies in communicating with visitors, communities, students and audience.

NODEM was established in 2003 by the research studio Visions for Museums at the Interactive Institute and supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers. Between 2010 and 2011, NODEM is developing to become a larger international conference networking platform called NODEM INTERNATIONAL, which will be acting in Nordic countries and beyond, and will be building a digital platform for archiving, collaboration and community building.

In 2011- 2014 NODEM will develop an international and multidisciplinary research network to connect research and practice in the field of interaction design and digital cultural heritage.

NODEM international is founded and owned by the Interactive Institute, and will in the future be operated by two co-chairs, Dr. Dagny Stuedahl and Halina Gottlieb, and a core organization that will be invited from previous organizers and communication members of NODEM conferences in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Iceland, and Denmark.?
