MyTHeme investigates how a card game can be computer-augmented to allow players to create narrative structures that are instantiated by a computer. MyTHeme intends to create a compelling computer-augmented game and to explore how stories can be generated from a combination of players' actions, the rules of a game, and a ubiquitous computing system.

As its enabling technology, Smart-Its are used in myTHeme to augment the cards and the various props in the game interaction. Interrelation of such computational materials contributes to collaborative authoring of the story, which is generated in real-time as a textual thread with audio and visual effects. Smart-Its support the intention of the game in stimulating social game interaction and tangible interaction with a digital system. The myTHeme prototype is currently in development and results will be disseminated in publications and demonstrations.

We are collaborating with Sus Lundgren at Chalmers University of Technology, Karl-Petter Åkesson at the Swedish Institute of Computer Science (SICS), and Jussi Holopainen at Nokia Research Center in Finland.
