What: Together with Jussi Holopainen (Nokia Research Center), Staffan Björk, Sus Lundgren and Tobias Rydenhag organized a workshop focused on identifying and analyzing game design patterns. The workshop was one out of at least three which will take place during the year as part of the collaboration between Nokia and PLAY.

Results:

What: Spelforum '03 was a Swedish two-day symposium with lectures, workshops, exhibitions and panel discussions focused on issues of design, analysis, theory and education involving games perceived as interactive systems. Spelforum '03 was a joint arrangement between the two programmes HCI/Interaction Design and ICT & Learning at the IT-University in Gothenburg together with the PLAY studio at the Interactive Institute. Sus Lundgren and Staffan Björk were two if its organizers (together with Jonas Linderoth).

What: A workshop on Computer Game Design Patterns, organized by Staffan Björk and Jussi Holopainen.

What: Sus Lundgren organized Bygg ditt egen brädspel (Build your own board game), a rule writing/game design contest where each team got the same components and had five hours to come up with a game. Six teams took part.

What: Staffan Björk and Peter Ljungstrand, PLAY, organized a workshop within the framework of the Disappearing Computer initiative from the European Union together with Jussi Holopainen, NRC, and Karl-Petter Åkesson, SICS. It was called Research Atelier for exploring fun and entertain ment with ubiquitous computers.
