Music Specialist/Software Designer

I have had the privilege to be part of the Sonic Studio all the way from the first ideas on a research studio around sound and music and till today. In many contexts, sound and music play very important roles in a greater whole, but in the context of digital media they are under-used and under-developed compared to for example graphics. It is a great challenge and great opportunity to take part in researching new ways to utilize and communicate through sound and music.

My education is in music pedagogy and I worked as a music teacher and as a teacher’s teacher for twelve years. In parallel with my musical and pedagogical work I have also developed my technical interest in software development. In the late 90’s I took part in several large development projects for interactive education material. Since 2000 I have been working on the Interactive Institute, at first with pedagogic research and since 2001 with research and development around sound and music at the Sonic studio. I am interested in working with questions on how sound and music can be utilized in new ways and in new contexts to create meaningful experiences for people. Such experiences can be created in many ways, my way is to use digital media as design material.
