The IXP project was a multidisciplinary research project looking to develop new concepts and prototypes for technology in museums and science centers. The IXP project brought together companies and public researchers in a research effort to explore how interactive technologies might shape engaging experiences for visitors. We present the prototypes developed for at marine centre and report on the insights gained from two rounds of evaluation in context. The prototypes were created to explore how visitors could relate to the exhibition on a constructive and experimental manner as well as new ways of folding physical and digital material in the exhibition space. Based on our evaluation, we discuss how the prototypes fostered engagement among visitors and reflect on the use of mixed reality installations in exhibition spaces.
