NODEM stands for Nordic Digital Excellence in Museums. The concept of NODEM was initiated by Digital Cultural Heritage Centre of Expertise at Interactive Institute in Sweden. It is a Nordic forum for exchange of experience and best practice, on the use of new digital media in communicating with visitors and audiences, at museums, galleries, heritage attractions, natural and science discovery centres, etc.
NODEM 08 will be held at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik on 3-5 Dec 2008. The theme for NODEM 08 is Experiences in Natural and Cultural Heritage. People from museums, galleries, science and discovery centres, cultural/natural heritage sites and similar organisations will benefit from participating in this event, e.g. exhibit designers, media producers, educators, engineers, artists or ICT developers.
A local committee has been formed to organise the event, in good cooperation with Halina Gottlieb at Interactive Institute in Stockholm, who initiated NODEM, and a programme committee with people from all the Nordic countries. The local committee consists of people from research/university, the museum sector and industry.
Coordinator of NODEM 08 is Margrét Guðmundsdóttir, Centre for Research in the Humanities, University of Iceland, mgu at hi.is, tel. +354 525 4462.
