Summary
EGO-TRAP is a cell phone supported role play which is carried out in the exhibition of the Experimentarium in Copenhagen. By means of their own cell phones the visitors are guided from one interactive exhibit to another. The interactive exhibits present at the Experimentarium are being part of a narrative playing out over three progressive levels going from creating a personal profile to a level of cooperation ending up at a level of insight where it turns out that the whole game is taking place with another purpose than it was said to be.
Intention:
The idea of EGO-TRAP is to combine interactivity and narration in a way that supports the processes of reflection and meaning-making for the young target group.
The primary target group of the exhibition is young people aged 15-17 (students from upper secondary high schools in Denmark).
Tech spec
Mobile phones connected to the mobile internet by use of GPRS.
Comments
The development of EGO-TRAP is part of a Ph.D. project having as its main purpose the development of a learning remedy for science in semi-formal learning settings. The Ph.D. project may be followed on this website.
