Euan Fraser

Researcher

Euan Fraser is a researcher at the Interactive Institute, Sweden.  He recently completed a two year Masters focusing on Participatory Innovation from the University of Southern Denmark.

His Masters thesis project was done in conjunction with the Interactive Institute and involved participating in the planning, refining, and facilitating of two seven week compressed innovation labs for an multinational food and beverage manufacturer.  His thesis, entitled ‘Trading Tales and Making Stories Stick: Moving Design Ethnographers from Conduits to Co-Producers’ used storytelling as a focus for analysing different stages of the innovation process.  In it he looked to provoke further thought around the notion of what 'design ethnography' could be and specifically how ethnographers might position themselves as co-producers of ethnographic material and stories, rather than simply conduits to the “real” world of the user.

Prior to his focus on Participatory Innovation Euan trained as a product designer, gaining a first class degree from the University of Strathclyde in his native Scotland.

Euan is currently participating in the Performing Participatory Innovation and Språkskap projects as well as teaching at MA-level at the Chalmers and Göteborg University.
