Magnus Eriksson
I have one degree from Malmö University College in Cultural Studies and one from Lund University in Sociology with a thesis on hackerspaces, open hardware and grassroots technology communities. However I've always been more interested in reading philosophy and political theory on the side (studying give you time to do that…)
I also have a background as activist and public speaker on issues regarding net freedom, intellectual property and internet communities. I got started with that as co-founder of the think-tank and provocateur organisation Piratbyrån in 2003 and are today active in the Julia Group, an NGO that works with open internet issues and telecomix, a group that develops practical tools for secure and open internet communications. THis also means I hang out at hackerspaces alot and go to hacker festivals around Europe frequently.
Also I'm part of online based art and technology collective FATLAB, so I hang around at biennials and new media art award shows a bit.
Even though I'm not technically a designer I enjoy the practice-based and open-ended research approach within design research and try to snap up as much as possible about it.
