Johan Redström

I am Design Director and Senior Researcher at the Interactive Institute in Sweden, and before that the Research Director of the Design Göteborg (RE:FORM) studio. I have also been a visiting Research Associate Professor at the Danish Center for Design Research at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, in Copenhagen, Denmark as Associate Research Professor, and a former lecturer in Interaction Design at Chalmers University, Göteborg, Sweden. My educational background is in philosophy, music and interaction design/HCI, and I got a PhD in Informatics from Göteborg University.

My research aims at combining philosophical and artistic approaches with focus on experimental design. Design research programs include "Slow Technology" on designing for reflection rather than efficiency in use, "IT+Textiles" on craft combining traditional design and new technologies, and "Static!" on increasing awareness of everyday energy consumption through experimental interaction design.
