Norrköping - The Sustainable City

Interactive Institute C-Studio will during 2010-2013 work together with Linköping University and E.ON in a research programme focusing on developing a sustainable city. In this four-year project the research team will focus on three important thematic areas: work, living and mobility, these thematic areas will be combined with studies on ongoing development processes in the city of Norrköping:

  • The development of the area “Södra Butängen” an old industrial area that will be transformed to a sustainable district by introducing new types of environmental friendly technical infrastructure.
  • The Development of the Industrial area Händelö. How can we create Eco-Industrial parks by introducing industrial symbiosis?
  • Mobility, how can electricity and bio fuels be used in future transport systems to minimize the environmental and climate impact.

Within the project Interactive Institute C-Studio will with help of simulation and visualisation develop new methods for science communication to the general public. The results will be presented within the framework of the project C The City.
