Scientific and artistic, utopian and critical visions at the Energy Conference at RIXC – Riga.

October 9-10 RIXC Media Center in Riga organized the Art + Communication 2009 festival on the theme “ENERGY”.
About 30 artists, scientists, theoreticians, researchers and designers from all around the world were invited speakers at the conference. The themes for the conference were:
* CHANGING LANDSCAPE OF SUSTAINABILITY
* ENERGY IN NATURE AND SOCIETY
* INFORMATION AND ENERGY
* SCIENCE AND ART IN RENEWABLE ENERGY
(Michel Bauwens, US/Bangkok).
Michel Bauwens, US/Bangkok, was one of the keynote lecturers and talked about PEAK ENERGY, PEAK HIERARCHY, OPEN EVERYTHING. Some of the other speakers were: Arnbjörn Ólafsson – WE´VE LOST THE MONEY, BUT WE STILL HAVE THE ENERGY! SUSTAINABILITY AND RENEWABLE ENERGY IN ICELAND, John Reshaur Enevoldsen – ENERGY ISLAND SAMSØ IN A CULTURAL PERSPECTIVE, Tina Finnäs (Interactive Institute) – VISUAL VOLTAGE – REFLECTIONS ON ENERGY, Janis Kleperis, Liga Grinberga, Imants Dirba, Ilze Klepere – RESEARCHES OF HYDROGEN TECHNOLOGIES IN LATVIA, Erik Sjödin (Interactive Institute) – STEM SOUNDS AND BUSH-SCOPES.
