The Innovative Design organization consists of a number of research and development studios where researchers and students work together on a daily basis. Virtual heritage forms one of the projects. Newways to present historical buildings and sites for the purpose of preparing and following up visits and for educational purposes are being explored. The presentations should give an idea of the history behind their realization, the way they were designed and built and the time it occurred, their use during different periods and their actual state and use.The basis is meant to be VR models which give virtual access to the buildings and their context. Possibilities to understand their physical and spatial structure and the way they were realized with the available technology will also be explored. Another idea is to animate interesting narratives connected to the buildings or sites and in that way create a historical feeling of presence for children and others.
