Ongoing events

[fringe] experimental art & media events.

Once or twice a month, [fringe] events are held as as public, collective events, organized by Margot Jacobs at the Interactive Institute and hosted by the Big Love gallery. Events have included art film viewings, design vernissages, experimental music performances, electronic making workshops, and robotic puppet shows – a forum for local and visiting international artists and designers.

ID|C Interaction Design Chalmers seminar series.
The Interaction Design Group at Chalmers hosts a seminar series, some of which are co-organized and co-hosted by the Interactive Institute. Seminars feature in-depth discussion of research, particularly that of PhDs or young researchers. Recent features have included graduates from the School of Design at Umeå University, the IT University Göteborg, and the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea in Italy.

Past events

First Nordic Design Research Conference
'In the Making' is the theme of the first Nordic Design Research Conference - it was held May 29-31 2005 in Copenhagen, hosted by the Danish Center for Design Research and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture. Reaching beyond the traditional design disciplines the aim is to include other research areas with common interest in how people shape and make sense of things in an increasingly man-made world. From the Interactive Institute, Johan Redström, Sara Ilstedt Hjelm, and Ramia Mazé helped to organize the conference.

ENERGY+DESIGN Seminar Series.
(2005) A series of 3 seminars held throughout the spring with relation to the Static! project, where different perspectives on energy, design and sustainability have been presented, contributing to a regional discussion on how to support end-user energy awareness through product design.

(2005) A series of 7 seminars held throughout the spring, exploring the relationship between art and design and the ever changing role of the artist and the designer. OUTSIDE IN, international symposium on the design & use of public space.
(2004) "Outside In: Emerging expressions, interventions, and participation in public space". Organized by the Interactive Institute, the Röda Sten Culture Project and supported by the Nordic Culture Fund. June 14-15, Röda Sten, Göteborg.
